Curative New Berlin Therapies
CNBT now has a pediatric occupational therapist who has training in the Learning Without Tears curriculum from Pre-K through 5th grade. Emily has received her level 1 certification and is now a Handwriting Without Tears handwriting specialist. She has training in The Print Tool® standardized assessment to evaluate, interpret, and score various handwriting components. It assesses capital letters, lowercase letters, and numbers. The Print Tool® is a comprehensive evaluation tool that encompasses the three most achievable handwriting goals, tracks progress, and determines remediation taught handwriting curriculums: D’Nealian, Handwriting Without Tears, and Zaner-Bolser. This certification allows Emily to write client-centered reports and use set activities. She strives to incorporate a multi-sensory approach into her treatment sessions to maximize the child’s engagement, participation, and functional outcomes in therapy.
The Learning Without Tears incorporates:
- Multisensory approach (Putty, Wet-Ory-Try, Mat Man, Wood pieces, Stamp and See Screen, Chalkboard)
- Simple language (big line, little line, big curve, little curve)
- Unique letter order and style for teaching.
- Double lines to assist with placement and legibility.

2020 Annual Report
2020 was a year of change at Curative and despite unprecedented events, our teams remained steadfast in our focus on our Mission, Vision and Values. No one could have predicted the obstacles that laid ahead for the organization. In 1918, as Curative was being formed, another influenza pandemic was gripping the country and now, just after celebrating 100 years, Curative found itself in a similar situation. As Curative did in the past, we rose to the occasion, modifying service delivery methods and continuously focusing on the needs of our clients, our teams and their safety.
