Curative's
Day Service program supports adults over the age of 18 in Milwaukee County
who are
developmentally disabled or brain injured. The program helps these
individuals develop the skills necessary to achieve the highest possible
level of personal and community independence.
The
Curative adult day care programs are operated at eight community-based locations Monday through
Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Curative staff members provide a variety
of purposeful, goal-oriented opportunities that promote individual
independence as well as offer respite to caregivers.
Day
Service program activities enhance the quality of life, build
relationships, prepare for and provide paid work, meet personal interests
and leisure pursuits, provide for personal growth -- especially related to
self-advocacy -- and promote health and wellness.
Individuals
may choose daily program activities based on their interests and
preferences, or they may be assigned activities related to personal
program plan objectives. Typical activities may include classes such as
meal preparation, home care, gardening, safety, community outings, arts
and crafts and computer skills.
Team
members may include an activity therapist, activity aides and assistants,
licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants, depending on
the needs of program participants.
